jpnn.comJAKARTA – Actor Ammar Zoni was sentenced to three years in prison for a drug abuse case.

The verdict was delivered by the panel of judges at the West Jakarta District Court in a trial held online on Monday (26/8).

“Declaring that the defendant Ammar Zoni legally and convincingly committed a criminal act without rights or against the law of buying or possessing class one narcotics,” said Chief Judge Achmad Satibi as reported by Antara.

In addition to the three-year prison sentence, Ammar Zoni also has to pay a fine of IDR 1 billion.

“With the provision that if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with a prison sentence of three months,” he continued.

Ammar Zoni’s verdict was lower than the Public Prosecutor’s (JPU) demand of 12 years in prison.

According to the panel of judges, the public prosecutor never showed evidence of the 95 grams of crystal methamphetamine that Ammar Zoni and the other defendant, Akri, were accused of selling.

Another mitigating factor is that Ammar Zoni is considered the backbone of the family.
