Dine LA Restaurant Week Boosts Visibility for New Eateries Like Atta Girl

Dine LA Restaurant Week, currently underway, is proving to be a crucial platform for emerging restaurants seeking to establish themselves in the competitive Southern California dining scene. The annual event, which runs through February 6, offers a significant opportunity for increased exposure and customer acquisition, particularly for those recently opened.

A Lifeline for New Restaurants

Opening a restaurant is notoriously challenging, a reality amplified in recent years by pandemic shutdowns and escalating operational costs. However, initiatives like Dine LA Restaurant Week are helping to mitigate these hurdles by driving foot traffic and generating buzz. A chef at a new Hermosa Beach establishment shared insights into the event’s impact.

Atta Girl Finds Success Through Dine LA

Alice Mai, the chef behind Atta Girl, a restaurant open for less than a year, explained to KNX News that Dine LA has been instrumental in raising the restaurant’s profile. “So we’ve seen an uptick in guests, especially first-timers who haven’t been to this area before or haven’t been to our restaurant,” she said. This influx of new customers is particularly valuable for building a loyal clientele.

Mai also highlighted the benefits of being part of the Simms Restaurant Group, noting the numerous opportunities it provides. She emphasized that Dine LA’s promotional and marketing efforts are expanding the restaurant’s reach within the community. “I think it really helps expand that reach and gets us out there in the community, especially with Dine LA helping us to promote and to market,” she stated.

Building Community, One Table at a Time

For Mai, the restaurant is more than just a business; it’s a vehicle for connection. “For her, it’s about building community one table at a time.” The name “Atta Girl” itself reflects this ethos, originating as a phrase of encouragement for women. Mai explained, “Atta Girl is generally an expression to give a female person a pat on the back.” She further elaborated on the significance of the opportunity, given the lack of female partners within the Simms Restaurant Group. “So there are no other female partners in this restaurant group, so being able to give me this opportunity and be able to partner with me to open this restaurant has been kind of a pat on the back for that time that I’ve spent working at Fishing with Dynamite and really being able to expand everything and grow with the company.”
