A rail worker is recovering at home after being discharged from the hospital following a harrowing stabbing incident aboard a train traveling from Doncaster to London King’s Cross. “While we are really happy to have him home, he still has a significant recovery ahead,” Zitouni’s family shared in a statement released by the BTP. “We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from the public,and very touched by all the kind words about Sam’s brave actions on the night of the attack.”
Public Support and Legal Proceedings
The public has rallied around Zitouni and his family, with an online crowdfunding page organized by a colleague raising over £67,000 to provide financial support. LNER,the train operator,has also expressed its gratitude,with Managing Director David Horne stating that Zitouni’s actions “were incredibly brave,and we are so proud of him.”
Anthony Williams,32,and currently with no fixed address,has been charged with ten counts of attempted murder relating to the train stabbings and one count of attempted murder in connection with a separate alleged attack in London. He is scheduled to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on December 1st.
