Tel Aviv: Lebanon’s terrorist group Hezbollah has carried out a major drone and rocket attack on Israel. Shortly before this, Israel had attacked several areas in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah. After the attack on Israel, Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah said that it has avenged the killing of its commander Fuad Shukr, who was killed in Beirut. Hezbollah said that Israeli military bases have been targeted in this attack. Where the attacks took place will be announced later. Hezbollah said that it is targeting Israeli army barracks and Iron Dome. Hezbollah said that the attack is the first phase of revenge for the killing of top commander Fuad Shukr, who was killed in the southern area of Beirut last month. The Israeli army says that in the last one hour, Hezbollah has launched more than 150 drones and rockets towards Israel. Most of these were targeted towards the north of Israel. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said they had received intelligence about the attack, following which Israel pre-emptively carried out air strikes in Lebanon to prevent Hezbollah attacks.
Israel knew about the attack
In a statement, the Israeli army alleged that Hezbollah was preparing to launch missile and rocket attacks towards Israeli territory on Sunday morning. Israeli army spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagar said, “A self-defense action was taken to overcome these threats, in which terrorist bases in Lebanon were attacked. From these bases, Hezbollah was planning to launch attacks on Israeli civilians.” He warned that rocket and possibly missile and drone attacks would soon be launched on Israel.
Sirens started ringing in Israel
Immediately after the warning from the IDF, sirens started ringing in northern Israel. Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv started diverting all incoming flights. All flights taking off started flying late. Social media footage showed scenes of attacks in southern Lebanon. Israel had warned people before attacking Lebanon. Israel had said that people should leave the areas where Hezbollah has hideouts. Evacuate them and go away.
