Beirut: Hezbollah has recently released a video, in which it has shown its military strength. Hezbollah has shown a tunnel in the video, which gives a glimpse of its years-old tunnel project. Hamas’s tunnel network in Gaza is considered quite good, but this network of Hezbollah looks much better than Gaza. According to Channel 12’s report, Israeli experts believe that Hezbollah’s tunnels are large enough to store missiles and carry them on trucks. On the other hand, only medium-sized vehicles can pass through Hamas’ tunnel network. Gaza’s underground tunnel network mainly serves as a tactical walkway for fighters, not as a strategic route for weapons. In such a situation, this network of Hezbollah can become a cause of trouble for Israel.
Ohad Hemo, an Arab affairs analyst at Channel 12, said the tunnel shown in the Hezbollah video may have been inside Lebanon. However, it was not clear where the tunnel was located or how many such tunnels there were. Former military intelligence chief General Tamir Heyman said that 160 Shia villages in southern Lebanon have underground passages. Heyman said that although Hezbollah considers its tunnels secure, Israel has intelligence capabilities and has greatly enhanced its capabilities in recent years.

Missile laden trucks are moving in the tunnel

Amid fears of war with Israel, Lebanese group Hezbollah released a video on Friday showing an underground missile facility called Imad 4. The footage showed missile-laden trucks moving around the facility, as well as launching positions for the projectiles. An official from the group said the missiles shown in the video have a range of 140 kilometers, capable of reaching deep inside Israel.

According to underground warfare expert Tal Beri, Hezbollah also built tunnels directly into Israel. These tunnels were destroyed by the IDF in Operation Northern Shield in January 2019. Beri said that Hezbollah’s tunnel network was several hundred kilometers long in total. Beri told the Times of Israel that North Korea has been collaborating with Hezbollah in building tunnels for the past four decades. He also said that Hezbollah’s war doctrine does not depend on underground tunnels like Hamas. It can also adopt many other methods to surprise Israel.
