HGTV Sells ‘The Brady Bunch’ House Below Asking Price: What it Means for the Iconic Home

by time news

HGTV has sold “The Brady Bunch” house at a price below both the initial asking price and the price they originally purchased it for in 2018. The iconic Los Angeles home served as the exterior shot of the popular 1970s sitcom, and HGTV bought it with the intention of renovating the interior to replicate the Hollywood sets. According to The Wall Street Journal, the home was sold for $3.2 million, while HGTV had listed it at $5.5 million earlier this year. HGTV had bought the home for $3.5 million and documented the renovations in specials like “A Very Brady Renovation” and “A Very Brady Renovation: Holiday Edition.”

Tina Trahan, a self-proclaimed fan of the show and the 1995 parody film, has purchased the home and expressed her plans to use it for charitable events. HGTV had invested $1.9 million into the property and added 2,000 square feet, including a full second story. The completed home features standout elements such as the iconic floating staircase, the burnt orange-and-avocado green kitchen, the kids’ Jack-n-Jill bathroom, and a backyard with a swing set, teeter-totter, and Tiger’s dog house.

In a philanthropic gesture, HGTV announced that a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the home will go towards providing meals for Turn Up! Fight Hunger, an initiative that helps children facing hunger in the United States through No Kid Hungry. The renovation of the home was documented in “A Very Brady Renovation,” where Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott collaborated with the former child stars of the show, including Barry Williams, Maureen McCormick, Christopher Knight, Eve Plumb, Mike Lookinland, and Susan Olsen.

With the sale of “The Brady Bunch” house, HGTV wraps up its renovation project and leaves a lasting legacy in the form of a renovated and iconic TV home, as well as the support provided to children in need through the proceeds of the sale.
