HGTV Star Ty Pennington Reveals Health Complication After ‘Barbie’ Premiere

by time news

HGTV star Ty Pennington recently had a health scare just days after attending the premiere of the movie “Barbie.” The television personality, 58, took to Instagram to update his followers on his condition.

In an Instagram post, Pennington shared a series of photos and began his caption with, “From the red carpet, to the ICU… this last week has been interesting!” He reassured his fans that he is now okay and still recovering.

Pennington explained that he woke up on Tuesday morning at 4 am and could barely breathe. After seeking medical help, it was discovered that a sore throat he had been experiencing for the past month was actually an abscess that had grown so large it was closing off his airway. He was intubated and flown to the ICU in Denver, where he had to undergo surgery. Thankfully, he was released from the ICU the following day.

The HGTV star expressed his gratitude to the staff at St. Anthony’s in Lakewood, CO and Summit Health in Frisco for taking excellent care of him during his medical ordeal. He also emphasized the importance of listening to one’s body when it is trying to communicate a problem.

Pennington’s Instagram post included a carousel of images. The first photo showed him giving a thumbs up in a hospital bed, followed by a picture from the movie premiere. The third image depicted Pennington being intubated in the hospital.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, Pennington ended his caption on a lighter note. He shared a photo of a piece of paper with his attempts to write the phrase, “I need to put on my speedo.” Even while under the influence of sedatives, Pennington remarked that he was still in the right frame of mind.

Fans flooded the comment section with well wishes, hoping for Pennington’s speedy recovery. Many praised his positive attitude in the face of adversity and expressed their relief that he is now doing better.

Pennington’s health scare serves as a reminder that it is important to pay attention to our bodies and seek medical help when necessary. We wish him all the best in his recovery and hope to see him back to his energetic self soon. #speedosforlife
