Family dramas, strange disappearances, suspicious transactions, infidelities, “magical bonds” and all sorts of… love schemes. Private investigators in Greece are confronted daily with incredible stories that even Sherlock Holmes would be jealous of, who, with the help of the most sophisticated means of technology or even helicopters (!) available for immediate operations, manage within a few days to solve even the most difficult cases! But what drives citizens to private investigators rather than the police? As the private investigator Dimitris Pelekasis tells “Espresso”, “apart from the confidentiality that governs the cases, the police lose in the media. It is indicative that today, most private detective agencies are equipped with the most modern means of surveillance that cost a fortune.” As the private investigator pointed out, because every case is different, different means are used to solve it. “From chat recording systems and cameras built into watches and lighters, to satellite systems, equipped cars and machines, camera tracking devices and helicopters. Furthermore, the client feels confident that his case will have immediate results within a few days. Our office has dealt with cases that would make even the best Hollywood screenwriter jealous. From magic and infidelity, to everything one can imagine.” Indicatively, Mr. Pelekasis told us about three difficult cases that were solved recently…

Famous furniture maker “bound by magic”

One step before the brink of disaster, a 50-year-old businessman arrived in the furniture business, who suddenly began to feel psychologically and physically exhausted. According to Dimitris Pelekasis, this man – a father of two children – resorted, naturally, to well-known doctors and underwent hundreds of medical tests, all of which showed that he was not facing any pathological problem. “The only diagnosis he was given was: psychological problems and possible melancholy. He started treatment, but still there was no improvement. The whole family started to worry, the factory was going from bad to worse and the businessman didn’t even want to get out of bed. Then some of his relatives started mentioning the words “witchcraft” and “they tied him up”. So, they started looking for a way to break the spell. But still no solution was given” recounts the private investigator.

At the same time, the factory began to “sink” as a result of which competitors were lurking for a takeover. Negotiations began with people from the company – the wife’s relatives – and also with his wife. Desperate, his brother then turned to Mr. Pelekasis and asked him to immediately find out who “tied him up”… “So I immediately started the investigation” says Mr. Pelekasis: “I started talking to all the family members, I looked for the competitors, his environment from his childhood until today. But no one seemed to have any reason to harm him. Search-search, but I found the end of the thread.” According to the private investigator, examining his acquaintance with the wife, he found the latter’s obsession with putting people from her relatives in the factory, regardless of their abilities. He then met with them and found that they were all unsuitable or irrelevant to the business. But all of them had managerial positions and their contacts with their wives were frequent.

“They had launched the sale of the factory at a humiliating price. In fact, the businessman’s brother had asked for an expert opinion, which the wife and relatives had refused, citing that valuable time was being wasted,” said the private investigator: “Proceeding my research in the field of witchcraft, a well-known psychic told me “what spells and bonds… The man is masturbated”. Days later I was able to uncover that his wife had been giving him depressants instead of the anti-depressants he was supposed to be taking, to keep him listless, sluggish and able to control him. In fact, as far as the quantity is concerned, she was well informed, so that the 50-year-old’s life would not be in danger.”

As it turned out, the wife and two of her relatives intended to sell the business and pocket the money as, as the woman admitted, she was afraid that he would soon leave her. “Everyone moved away from him and now the man is fine. The factory was also saved, he also saved his life” concluded Mr. Pelekasis.

15-year-old in the net of drugs and prostitution

Another special case that Mr. Dimitris Pelekasis was asked to investigate had a 15-year-old boy as the protagonist, who from one moment to the next found himself entangled in the web of drugs and prostitution. The child who was in the difficult period of adolescence suddenly began to question everything: the family, his ten-year-old sister, the Church, the laws, school and his own life, says the private investigator. In fact, several nights he did not sleep at home, telling his mother that he would spend the night at a friend’s house. But one night, his parents got a call from the police station and told them that the child was there for a background check. In desperation, the parents turned to a psychologist, but also to the office of Mr. Pelekasis to find out exactly what was happening to their child who often left home.

“The boy started smoking cigarettes and quickly fell into hard drugs. He only went home to steal money, from father’s drawer, mother’s purse, grandmother’s jewelry, to secure his dowry. He bought two batches, made three, sold one and that’s how the time passed,” said Mr. Pelekasis and added: “When he couldn’t steal from his parents anymore, he looted the cafeterias and collected the tips from the tables.”

However, the worst was yet to come. According to the private investigator, one night, in a central square of Athens, a person – about fifty years old – approached the young man and, in exchange for money, asked him to have sex. As it happened… The 15-year-old followed the man to a nearby hotel. But when it came time to pay, the 50-year-old refused to give them to him, as a result of which they came to blows. At one point, the 50-year-old’s companion, hearing the commotion, burst into the room and mercilessly beat the young man. “They left him covered in blood and left. The child was taken to the hospital with a broken arm, head injuries and bruises all over his body,” noted the detective and continued: “Thankfully, after all that he recovered. Today is fine. He changed his house, neighborhood and habits, he is monitored once a week by a psychologist, he is an excellent student at school and he got his life back again”.

The love triangle led to their divorce

The wife of a businessman in Kato Kifissia, who managed to lose everything with her lies, is blowing it and is not cold… According to the private investigator Betty Georgiou, this lady asked her to investigate the travels of her husband, a manufacturer of public projects, which began to increase in recent months. “After days of investigation it turned out that the husband was traveling with their 30-year-old domestic worker, who took weekends off.” But when Mrs. Georgiou gave the required evidence to the lady, that’s when she really fell from the clouds. “As she confided in me, she herself had contributed to the creation of this illicit relationship as she often used to share the same bed with the 30-year-old domestic helper, while most of the time she and her husband invited her to satisfy their sexual fantasies together” she says the private investigator and adds: “This love triangle resulted in the husband falling in love with the housekeeper and wanting her only for himself.” For the record, the couple divorced as the wife was redundant, while, now single, the businessman lives his love with the former housekeeper…
