Within the territorial strategy for the reactivation of autonomy and economic empowerment coordinated by the National Institute for Women (Inmujeres) in 128 municipalities of the country, Hidalgo operates, with positive results, four “Economic Nodes” through the Centers for the Development of Women (CDM).
In order to supervise the work carried out by advisors and users, the person in charge of the Hidalgo Women’s Institute (IHM), Katya Gabriela Hernández Pérez, witnessed the process of preparing spicy peanuts, a product that will be marketed in the region by the Community Women’s Network of the Ejido 3 de Marzo locality, in the municipality of San Felipe Orizatlán, located in the Huasteca, where one of the nodes is located.

The participants, mostly women of indigenous origin, recognized this model of economic empowerment as successful because, beyond providing them with tools to generate income and be protagonists of development, it also strengthens their participation in the decisions of their community, in addition to facilitating coexistence and sisterhood.
In that community, the Social Control Committee was formed, responsible for monitoring the transparency of resources, the fulfillment of objectives and the relevance of the projects to be undertaken.
The other three economic nodes that operate in the entity are located in the CDM of Chapulhuacán, Tenango de Doria and Acaxochitlán, where specialized personnel in economics, finance and administration train, advise and accompany the undertakings of women’s groups.

In Hidalgo, Inmujeres finances 17 of these centers, and the number of economic nodes is expected to gradually increase, given the positive results and the interest of women to participate.
