Actor Vijay’s luxury car case has been closed in the Madras High Court.

In 2005, the commercial tax department had ordered to pay entry tax on a car worth 63 lakh rupees imported by actor Vijay from America. Normally only 2 percent of the fine should be calculated from the month of importation of the car, but Vijay’s side said that 40 percent is calculated. Due to this, a petition was filed on Vijay’s side requesting cancellation of the fine. Justice Suresh Kumar delivered the judgment in this case today.

According to the judgment, “Entry duty penalty on imported BMW cars should not be levied from 2005 onwards.” After the High Court order of 2019, the Madras High Court has directed the Commercial Tax Department to impose penalty only for the period of non-payment of entry tax. With this, Vijay’s car case is closed.
