High-Impact Storm and Potential Damaging Tornadoes Threaten Central and Eastern US – NWS Warnings

by time news

The atmosphere has become extremely active with multiple storms brewing and set to hit the central and eastern Lower 48 regions of the United States. The National Weather Service has issued warnings about an impending “extremely dangerous blizzard” in parts of the central Plains and Midwest. Additionally, these storms could bring significant flooding and damaging winds, potentially leading to power outages on the Gulf and East coasts.

Florida was recently hit by a tornado, part of a larger storm system that brought heavy rain along the East Coast, as well as snowfall in the Northeast.

The impact of these storms is expected to be widespread, with winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories remaining in effect for the Northeast. There is also a new zone of winter weather alerts across the nation’s heartland.

Additionally, the Weather Service has reported that a “deep and dynamic” low pressure system which will develop over the Plains may result in near-blizzard conditions in the central states, and flooding, high winds, and severe thunderstorms on its warm side to the east, including potential tornadoes.

On the East Coast, heavy rainfall is expected, which combined with rapid snowmelt, could lead to flooding. The Weather Service has warned about the risk of excessive rainfall and potential damaging winds along the East Coast. Major cities such as New York, Philadelphia, and Washington could see gusts over 50 mph.

The South is also at risk for severe weather, with a level 2 out of 5 risk of tornadoes and damaging wind gusts from near Houston to Pensacola, continuing into parts of the Southeast on Tuesday.

As the nation braces for these severe weather phenomena, authorities are issuing caution and urging people to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts.
