Our country will have a high-profile presence, focusing on the presentation of its ambitious plans for sustainability, at this year’s international tourism exhibition WTM in London, which will take place on November 6-8, 2023.
The Minister of Tourism, Ms. Olga Kefalogianni will actively promote Greece as a tourist destination and will participate in the WTM Ministerial Conference held in collaboration with the World Tourism Organization and the World Travel and Tourism Council on Monday, November 6, as part of the exhibition .
On Tuesday, November 7, visitors will have the opportunity to explore in depth the sustainability plans promoted by Greece, while the 72 exhibitors at the EOT stand, among which will be Greek destinations, hoteliers, associations, start-up companies, travel agents, destination management organizations and airlines, will present their sustainability certifications through a series of short videos, as part of the “Sustainability Marathon”.
The exhibition’s “Power to Change” campaign will be supported by Greece’s sustainable tourism initiatives, while a discussion on the role of women in entrepreneurship in Greece is planned.
Major events for 2024 include the lighting of the Olympic flame in Olympia before the Paris Olympics and the hosting of EuroPride in Thessaloniki.
In the context of sustainable tourism, the director of the UK and Iceland EOT Office, Eleni Skarveli, refers to Greece’s sustainability hub, SustainableGreece.co.uk, which was founded last year promoting innovative initiatives, while noting that the major tour operators have expands their capacity and the season in Greece.
In addition, Mrs. Kefalogianni will speak about issues of equality and accessibility in tourism, which includes the improvement of beach accessibility with the Seatrac project on 280 coasts of the country.
