The suspense will end in a few hours. High school students wishing to start higher education and students wishing to reorient themselves will receive the first answers to their wishes on the Parcoursup platform. The first answers must fall officially at 7 p.m., perhaps even a little earlier.
“I’ll wait until I get home after class to connect quietly with the computer. I’m too afraid of making a false manipulation and validating a wrong answer if I connect via my smartphone, ”explains Jeanne, 17, in Terminale in Côtes-d’Armor.
“It will determine my future, I can’t wait to find out if I’m taken where I want to go,” continues the young girl, who has applied for medical studies and wants to stay in Brittany. Several answers are possible for each training: to be accepted, to be accepted under conditions, to be on the waiting list or even to be refused. As every year, in the first hours, it will only be possible to consult the results. It is a little later in the evening that the candidates will be able to begin to respond to the proposals.
The admission phase ends on July 7
This Thursday’s deadline is a new step for high school students, but not the last, because with Parcoursup, everything is not decided on a single day. The process will continue throughout June, and remains conditional on obtaining the baccalaureate, the results of which will be communicated on July 4. The platform, which succeeded APB in 2018, received the wishes of some 917,000 people, including 629,000 high school students and 163,000 students who want to change paths.
Faced with the criticism that Parcoursup continues to arouse, the Ministries of Education and Higher Education are trying to improve its transparency. They also shortened the response period for candidates, “in order to reduce the feeling of waiting and the stress that can be induced”.
The main intake phase will end on July 7, a week earlier than last year. At the same time, the additional admission phase will allow candidates to make up to ten new wishes from June 15 in the courses that still have places.
