The acting Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, has announced that high speed will arrive in Asturias on November 29, when the Pajares variant opens, whose commercial services will begin one day after its opening.

Regarding the opening of the Pajares Bypass, Adif requested its commissioning from the Railway Safety Agency on October 13, thanks to which the training of the drivers was able to begin more than a week ago.

The minister has highlighted the investment of more than 4,000 million euros in transforming rail transport in the region, both for passengers and goods, and wanted to remember that before this advance, the service had already been improved with the León through station. , to which will be added the arrival of the Avril de Talgo trains, which will allow current circulation speeds to be increased. These new trains are already approved by the European Railway Agency and Talgo is expected to deliver them in the first quarter of 2024.

Since 2018, 422 million euros have been allocated to the railways in Asturias, for actions such as the modernization of the blockades on the Trubia-Collanzo and Cudillero-Pravia sections, an investment included in the Asturias Cercanías Plan, to which the Ministry has provided already with more than 1,500 million euros.
