Russia’s war on Ukraine continues for a third day. In this context, Russia welcomes India’s position of neutrality in the UN Security Council resolution against Russia.

The United States and Albania jointly passed a resolution against Russia at the United Nations. Following this, the resolution against Russia was put to a vote at the 15-nation UN Security Council meeting this morning.

In this case, India did not participate in the referendum. In this 15-member Security Council, 11 members voted in favor. But China, India and the United Arab Emirates did not vote.

Commenting on his neutrality in the resolution against Russia, Indian envoy DS Thirumurthy said, “Taking human lives is not the answer. We urge all parties to return to the path of negotiation. For various reasons, India is avoiding voting on this resolution. ”

In the end, even though 11 countries voted against Russia in the resolution, Russia overturned the resolution by its veto power.

In this context, Russia welcomes India’s position in the UN Security Council. Russia’s embassy in India has said it welcomes Russia’s neutral stance on the referendum, which Russia has already asked for. Russia has said it will continue to maintain cordial relations with India.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi has urged the two presidents to leave violence and find a solution through negotiations. He said India was ready to contribute in any way to the peace process.

It is noteworthy that in a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Modi this evening, Selensky called on Prime Minister Modi to “politically support Ukraine in the resolution against Russia to be re-tabled at the UN.”
