Hijab: The Supreme Court will consider the petition against the High Court verdict after the Holi holiday

New Delhi | The Supreme Court will consider the petitions filed against the Karnataka government’s decision to ban headscarves worn by Muslim girls in educational institutions after the Holi holidays. Niba Nass and Aisha Shifat approached the Supreme Court. Senior counsel Sanjay Hede, appearing for the petitioners, said that the petitions should be considered as a matter of urgency as the examinations are currently underway.

A bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana said the matter would be considered after the Holi holidays. The petitioners wanted the list to be considered on Monday. The Chief Justice said that the matter could be taken into account but the date of listing could not be stated at present.
