Till a few years ago, Delhi-based Ryan Dalton used to run a travel company. Through this company he regularly took travelers on many tours to places like Himachal, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, Kerala and Rajasthan.
The Better India Talking to Ryan, he says that gradually the idea of leaving Delhi and settling in the hills came to his mind. He then decided to build a commercial property where he could also live and thus Daltons Village was born.
This homestay is a 60 year old Himachali house, which has been renovated by Ryan. It is made entirely of soil, rock and wood. In February 2019, Ryan moved into this homestay and now calls it “home.” Natural Daltons Village Homestay
This homestay has four rooms, one of which he himself lives in. Ryan tries his best to ensure that the guests coming here get a pure Himachali experience.

Ryan also encourages guests to get to know the locals. For example, Ryan’s neighbor is an elderly woman who is a handloom weaver. She makes ‘Kullu Shawls’. He is very popular in the village and Ryan says, “You can learn a lot from his life.”
The guests are also taken on walks. “There are some hidden natural pools that only locals know about and a natural waterfall where people can go swimming,” he explains. Pure Himachali food is served here
Pure, desi Himachali food is served to guests at this homestay. And flour, pulses and rice are also ground in the ancient and natural mill here. By coming here you can live among the local people, like them, and enjoy the mountain life.
For the last three-four years, Ryan has been running Dalton’s Village very well and giving different experiences to the people; But today they need help.
