Bengaluru: Kannada actor Chetan Kumar popularly known as Chetan Ahimsa has been arrested by the police after his tweet against Hindutva became a controversy. The tweet which starts with ‘Hinduism is built on lies’ went viral on social media. The actor, who is also a Dalit activist, has been accused of hurting the sentiments of Hindus and making statements in a manner that incites enmity between different communities. Seshadripuram police took Chetan into custody and produced him in the district court

“Hinduism can be defeated only with truth – truth is equality,” Chetan’s tweet read.

Chetan was arrested by the police after receiving a complaint against the tweet. In February 2022, the actor was also arrested for tweeting against Karnataka High Court judge Krishna Dixit, who heard the hijab case.
