“HM King Mohammed VI is a man whom I have never ceased to admire and respect. He is an exceptional man and one of the great wise and visionary leaders,” said Mr. Sarkozy during the presentation ceremony of his latest work “The Time of Combats”, which took place in the presence of the Advisor to His Majesty the King, Mr. AndrĂ© Azoulay and the French Ambassador to Morocco, Mr. Christophe Lecourtier, as well as an audience of eminent personalities from the political, diplomatic, economic and cultural worlds.

During this meeting organized by the Council for Development and Solidarity (CDS), the former French president said he was impressed by the Sovereign’s ability to anticipate events and stay on course with his vision for the Kingdom, emphasizing “the considerable development” that Morocco has experienced in several areas under the leadership of His Majesty the King.

Mr. Sarkozy also indicated that there are “exceptional relations” between Morocco and France, two brother countries. “We share the same interests and relationships and we are so different but so close,” he said.

“It is a question of history and future… There is a bond, an affection and a mutual understanding between the two countries,” noted Mr. Sarkozy, who expressed his deep admiration for Morocco and Moroccans.

“I have always felt this closeness with the Moroccans, they are a hospitable and deeply generous people,” he added.

This ceremony was marked by the presentation of a commemorative plaque to Mr. Sarkozy by the Council for Development and Solidarity, whose president Mohamed Benamour, highlighted, on this occasion, the particularity of this exceptional event organized in Rabat, Capital of Culture and Lights, which continues to develop under the enlightened Vision of HM King Mohammed VI.

Such an event, he stressed, offers an opportunity to discuss major current issues in a constantly changing world.

During this meeting, the former French president delivered to the audience his analysis of the state of the world and its major geostrategic issues, and shared his thoughts on the Europe-Africa relationship.
