Will Randal Kolo Muani soon score his second goal for the France team? The Bundesliga star with Frankfurt (23 goals, 17 assists) made a good rally at the end of March but without finding the net. The two matches ahead, against Gibraltar on Friday and then Greece on Monday, may represent the perfect opportunity. In front of the press, this Wednesday, he displayed his confidence and spoke of his versatility… Even if he still prefers the position of central striker.

Are you interested in playing at a new club this summer? In which country ? Maybe at PSG, for that matter?

RANDAL THE LORD. Personally, I just want to progress. It’s my dream to play in big clubs, so yes why not. But for the moment, I am in selection, there are two important matches. We will see all that after the internship.

You have played seven selections, your last goal dates back to the match against Morocco in the semi-finals of the World Cup. Do you develop some form of impatience?

I remain very confident, I do not rush, and the moment will come. It’s stuck in my head a little but I don’t want to rush to do things wrong. I can feel it. I have to be used to working with other attackers. I’m still the new kid on the block, it’s up to me to find my place, but that will come with time.

You started in Les Bleus’ last two games against the Netherlands and Ireland. Where do you feel best? More on the axis?

I feel more comfortable up front because that’s quite simply my position. But I can also play on the corridors, that does not bother me.

Regarding the Paris Olympics in 2024, do you have the ambition to participate?

No, I do not think so. I have already made them, two years ago I think, so a priori no.

You are one of the French people who have joined the Bundesliga and who shine there. What convinced you to sign there?

It’s a championship that offers a lot of space in the game. It’s more conducive to the athletic qualities of French players.

In a press conference this Wednesday, Konaté said it was tiring defending against you. Same question: what can be the difficulties of attacking against him?

The attack is very hard against Ibrahima, because he is very very strong. He does not let us go, he sticks to us as it should. We have to make them run to make them move. We press it because we know they don’t like it.

How do you attack against a tight, low team like Gibraltar?

France are used to having the ball, we will always play against teams that make a small low block. So it’s the habit. We have to find passing paths and gaps, and we will have the means to score goals.

“I would like to be more efficient, move less everywhere”

What areas could you improve on? What would you like to change in your home?

I would like to be more efficient, move around less. Having more opportunities in the middle and in the box would be a good thing to increase my success rate.

When we arrive in the France team and we play in the axis or on one side, we put ourselves more at the service of Mbappé?

No, what matters above all is the team, it’s being together to attack and defend.

Few players from Gibraltar are known. Do you take Friday’s game as an opportunity to unblock the situation from a personal point of view and improve your statistics?

It is true that it is a nation that is not very well known, with players who almost all play in their league. We, this match, especially for the attackers, we want to play it for confidence before the one against Greece. But the coach will make the right choices. And it will be up to us to do the job properly on the ground.

At the level of the attackers, with whom do you exchange the most to progress?

I speak with Olivier, Antoine, but also with Kylian and Marcus or the coach and the assistant coach. I talk a little with everyone. Afterwards, it’s up to you to take things and make your own sauce, let’s say.

What do you draw from a player like Giroud?

His mischief in front of goal, his little calls, counter-calls, stalling the ball well. There’s lots of stuff. There are movements that I do and that I can copy well and that can help me in my career.

Olivier broke the Blue goals record at the World Cup, Mbappé is 15 goals away from this record. How many games do you give him to pass?

I don’t know, we’ll see how he will progress with his number of goals, quite simply. It will be a surprise for everyone (smiles).
