Through the testimony of Fabio Valdés, a close friend of former President Sebastián Piñera, who died in an accident while piloting his helicopter last Tuesday, accompanied by his sister Magdalena Piñera and two other people, the last moments of the former Chilean president were known.
Although Valdés was not inside the helicopter, whose accident the other three occupants managed to survive, due to his closeness to the family, he provided detailed information about the former president’s trip to Lake Ranco, in Chile, where he unfortunately lost his life.

According to Valdés’ story, “100 meters away from the Cox house he tried to return to land, to return to the beach. Why did the windshield fog up?
Sebastián Díaz, Piñera’s pilot and instructor, who spoke with the Chilean media Radio Agricultura, described that inside the ship “there was a lot of humidity, the visibility and the roof were not optimal.”
In addition, he attributed the fact that the windows began to fog up because “the passengers inside spent longer than normal inside the helicopter, all of which produced more humidity and began to clog inside,” Díaz said.

Díaz was Piñera’s personal instructor while he was president in Chile, so he could not fly as often, which, according to the instructor, was not ideal for private pilots. “I didn’t have much time to fly, stay in flight, and that is a condition that is not advisable for private pilots,” said the pilot.
So the instructor made sure that the former president constantly trained to maintain his piloting skills. Finally, Díaz told that medium that the former president “felt safe with his helicopter, he knew him well.”
