The Egyptian doctor, Yasser Abdel Qader, who was treating the late actor Hisham Selim and died, Thursday, at the age of 64, narrated the details of his suffering from cancer.
Abdel Qader stated that the disease that Hisham Selim was suffering from was lung cancer, and it was discovered at a late stage and not in the early stages that facilitate treatment and recovery.
The Egyptian doctor added that Selim remained under treatment in a private hospital in Cairo for a whole year, during which he received a different number of treatments, whether “chemical, radiological or immunological”, but they did not achieve the desired benefit, as his condition worsened in his last days.
He explained in statements to the “Sky News” satellite channel: “Hisham Selim was surrendering to the disease in his last days, because he realized the nature of his health condition, which the medical team had previously explained to him, especially since he was in the late third stage of the disease, and after we tried many times to control and treat the disease.” .
The treating doctor, Hisham Selim, pointed out that the artist “was sophisticated throughout his treatment, and he treated the medical staff with great affection.”
Sadness descended on the Egyptian artistic community, as well as the audience, as soon as the news of his death was announced, especially as he achieved artistic success, and drew attention to the roles that he embodied dramatically and cinematically.
The late artist had confirmed last May that he had cancer, and indicated at the time that he was residing in a village on the North Coast to receive treatment that could last several months.

The last television appearance of the artist Hisham Selim was in the series “Counter Attack”, which was shown in the month of Ramadan in the year 2021, and it was written by Baher Dowidar and directed by Ahmed Alaa El-Deeb. As for cinema, his last participation was also last year through the movie “Musa” with actor Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz.
