The Italian private cultural heritage can be a lever for the development of sustainable tourism and the widespread socio-economic regeneration of the territories, even in the internal and less known areas of the country. The attention of the institutions and the support of incisive public policies for historic homes, of which “a 28% ‘disposal’ is expected in the short term, is a must, to avoid the dispersion of the widespread Italian private cultural heritage that the whole world envies us and also to give deserved prominence to little-known tourist circuits, tracing new flows and development opportunities in that Italy that is often overlooked despite its unique stories and identities”, states Giovanni Ciarrocca, president of Adsi Abruzzo in announcing the meeting today in Rome at the National Academy of San Luca, of the presentation of the volume, first guide, ‘Historical homes in Abruzzo. History, identity and private cultural heritage”, promoted by the Association of Italian Historic Houses (Adsi), Abruzzo section.

The text, which systematically catalogs and studies the layout and evolution of 41 houses owned by members present in the Abruzzo region, 62% of which are not anthropized, can be a useful guide-compendium and example to be repeated for national and regional institutions also aiming at the widest audience of Italian communities abroad. In fact, the volume pursues “the same objectives and principles that animate the Roots Tourism project, in drawing attention to alternative destinations to places of mass tourism, to the historical, cultural, traditional and natural heritage of the villages and small municipalities and of the rural areas at the origin of Italian emigration”, comments the director general Luigi Maria Vignali, responsible among other things for the important Pnrr project “Turismo delle Radici” headed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Maeci) .

Present will be professor emeritus Natalino Irti, professor Claudio Strinati also in his role as general secretary of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, professor Gianluca Brancadoro, vice president of Monte dei Paschi di Siena, councilor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Giovanni Maria De Vita, national coordinator of the “Turismo delle Radici” project, the lawyer Giovanni Ciarrocca, general secretary and president of the Abruzzo section of Adsi. The academic architect Pio Baldi will moderate the interventions.
