The first debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is scheduled to begin at 04:00 Greek time on Wednesday morning. The debate is organized by ABC News and will take place in Philadelphia, at the National Constitution Center, without an audience in the venue.
The discussion will last 90 minutes, with two commercial breaks. The moderators will be the host of “World News Tonight” and editor-in-chief David Muir and the presenter of ABC News Live “Prime,” Lindsey Davis.
The microphones will be open only for the candidate whose turn it is to speak and will be turned off when the other candidate is speaking. Only the moderators will be allowed to ask questions.
The representatives of the two candidates flipped a coin to determine the order in which they will begin, and thus former President Donald Trump selected the order of questions. The former president will have the final statement, and Vice President Kamala Harris chose the left side of the stage in relation to the moderators’ podium.
There will be no opening statements, and the final statements of the candidates will last two minutes.
Each candidate will have two minutes to answer each question, with a two-minute rebuttal and an additional minute for a follow-up, clarification, or response. Candidates will stand behind the podiums during the debate and no notes will be allowed on stage. Each candidate will be provided with a pen, a blank paper, and a bottle of water.
Campaign staff are not allowed to interact with candidates during commercial breaks. The debate will be broadcast live in combination at 9 p.m. Eastern Time, U.S.
