A historic step: Today (Friday), the Azerbaijani parliament made a historic decision on the opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Israel. The embassy, which is expected to open in Tel Aviv, will be the first embassy in Israel of a Muslim country where the majority and government are Shiites.
Prime Minister Yair Lapid Message: “I welcome the decision of the Parliament of Azerbaijan to open an embassy in Israel. Azerbaijan is an important partner of Israel and home to one of the largest Jewish communities in the Muslim world.”
“The decision to open an embassy reflects the depth of the relations between the countries. This move is the fruit of the Israeli government’s efforts to build solid political bridges with the Muslim world. I want to thank President Ilham Aliyev and congratulate the Azeri people who will now be represented for the first time in the State of Israel.”

Defense Minister Benny Gantz He wrote on his Twitter account: “I welcome the decision of the Parliament of Azerbaijan to open an embassy in Israel. Last month I visited the country and met with the President, Mr. Elham Aliyev, with the Minister of Defense, General Zakir Hasanu, and with the head of the Border Service, General Elchin Golayev. At the meetings, we discussed the Shura of political and security issues.
He added: “The important step of opening the embassy illustrates the depth of relations between Israel and Azerbaijan and the need to continue and deepen them for the sake of stability and prosperity of the entire region and in the face of the various challenges.”
