The Philippines secured their first World Cup success by beating New Zealand (1-0) on Tuesday, a surprise at home in Wellington in the second meeting of the two nations in Group A of the Women’s World Cup. In the 24th minute, Sarina Bolden headed in the middle of three opponents for the first goal in the history of her country in the history of the World Cup, the Philippines making their debut in the competition in this 2023 edition co-hosted in Australia and New Zealand.
