Jean-Pierre, 44, grew up in New York with Haitian parents who immigrated to the United States. In her adult life, she entered politics and worked on both former President Barack Obama’s campaigns in 2008 and 2012, and then on Biden’s 2020 campaign before joining his White House staff. She also served under Biden during his tenure as Obama’s vice president.

As mentioned, the appointment of the new spokeswoman is part of a policy that Biden applied when he was elected president, when he decided to appoint only women to the White House media, for the first time ever. “This team will take great responsibility to connect the American people to the White House, the talented and experienced women of the team bring with them diverse perspectives and a shared commitment to building this country in a better way,” Biden said at the election.
