Mr. Principal:

I would like to share through DIARIO DE CUYO events that occurred in our territory, which are often not remembered and others on a certain date. For example, on July 7, 1807, the capitulation of the English army commanded by General Whitelocke was ratified. English troops were given 48 hours to abandon the city and two months to surrender Montevideo. On the same date, but in 1827, Dr. Vicente López took office as provisional President of the Republic. He had been elected on July 5, but he immediately resigned. Finally, he accepted the position and took office on this date. In 1867, the combat took place between the forces commanded by Commander José Maldonado and those of Felipe Varela on the Cuesta de Chilecito. The Montonera forces were totally defeated. And, in 1880, Lieutenant Colonel Juan José Rosendo Rocha died. He fought in the battles of Ombú, Ituzaingó and Camacuá. He was under the command of General José María Paz. He returned to the country after the Battle of Caseros and fought in the Paraguayan War. He was born in Buenos Aires on March 1, 1807.
