Historical flying; Saudi Airlines operates exclusively for female employees

by time news

The airline operated an airline service in Saudi Arabia that included only female employees. Only female employees were in service. It is the first such airline in the country, officials said.

Officials described it as a milestone in the empowerment of women in the country. The flight was from Riyadh to the Red Sea coastal city of Jeddah. The majority of the seven-member crew, including the first officer, were Saudi women. But Imad Iskandarani said the captain was a foreign woman. The Civil Aviation Authority of Saudi Arabia is making extensive efforts to ensure the participation of women in the aviation sector.
In 2019, the Authority launched its first aircraft service with a female Saudi co-pilot.

Saudi Arabia has been in the news for removing many laws that deny women their rights.
