Chennai: A case has been filed against the director Mani Ratnam in the Madras High Court, alleging that he has made Ponni’s Selvan by twisting history.

In the petition filed in this regard by Charles Alexander, a lawyer from Anna Nagar, Chennai, he said, “The movie directed by Mani Ratnam, adapted from Amarar Kalki’s Ponni’s Selvan novel of the same name, has twisted history. He has misused the name of the main character, Vandiyathevan, and misused history for his personal gain. Based on the history, the film is Proper research should be done before taking it.

While Kalki has also used real names from history, director Mani Ratnam has twisted history in this film to insult the Cholas who excelled in war tactics. In this regard, he has requested that action should be taken against him on the complaints made to the Central Government and the Archaeological Survey of India. The petition is expected to be heard soon.
