Killed by poison gas!
When Germany faced little by little defeat in this war, the Nazis brutally massacred the people in the camps. The children in the camp were separated from their mothers and, along with the older women, were herded into cells filled with the poisonous gas Zyklon-B and murdered. The sites also describe that many died from hard labor, malnutrition, lack of sanitation, starvation, infectious disease, personal executions, and medical experiments.
Liberation by the Soviet Red Army
In November 1944, the Nazis bombed the Birkenau gas chambers to hide their crimes from advancing Soviet forces. In January 1945, the Nazis began to abandon the camps. On January 27, 1945, the Soviet Red Army rescued nearly 7,500 prisoners. Germany surrendered on May 7, 1945. Records say Hitler committed suicide by shooting himself with his own pistol before the Nuremberg trials began. It is also said that his wife Eva Braun also committed suicide with him. The camp was liberated by Soviet forces on January 27, 1945,
Today it serves as a memorial and museum to the victims of the Holocaust.
