Eliecid Ávila Ávila, elected councilor of the municipality of Tuluá (Valle del Cauca), suffered an attack on December 31, a few hours after his inauguration. The official was attacked by hitmen while he was sharing the New Year celebration with his family.
The incident occurred in the Victoria de la Villa neighborhood. Ávila was waiting with his family for the arrival of midnight to celebrate, when he suffered the attack by two hitmen who, without saying a word, shot at his humanity.

The politician was helped and rushed to a healthcare center and his condition, officially, is reserved.
“The official was transferred to one of the city’s clinics and is currently in the recovery process. Given this circumstance, he had all the institutional capabilities available to provide an effective response that would allow those responsible for this crime to be brought to justice,” said Colonel Oleskyenio Florez, commander of the Valle Police Department (e).
Ávila Ávila is a dentist by profession with a postgraduate degree in Health Services Management. He entered the public world in 2008, when he was appointed as municipal secretary of Health.

Since 2016, he has served as a municipal councilor and in the last year he assumed the presidency of that corporation. This January 1 he was going to assume his third term as lobbyist, he came to office after being elected with 1,250 votes with the support of the Conservative party.
