“For a quarter of a century, HM King Mohammed VI has been the builder of modern Morocco,” noted the head of the Pan-African Bank in a statement to MAP on the occasion of the Throne Day.

The ambition and vision of His Majesty the King have had tangible results in terms of transformation, with Morocco having doubled its gross domestic product in 25 years and having acquired world-class infrastructure, Mr. Adesina observed.

“Flagship projects such as the Noor solar complex in Ouarzazate, one of the largest in the world, and the port of Tangier Med, a gigantic maritime infrastructure, symbolize this dynamic,” he explained, adding that the high-speed line, unique in Africa, illustrates the growing influence, visibility and power of Morocco on the regional scene.

In this regard, the AfDB President cited projects to extend the national road and highway network, the construction of numerous ports and airports, the opening up of rural areas and a widespread supply of drinking water.

“In addition to progress in the latest generation of infrastructure, there is an active approach to the development of human capital,” he said, recalling the projects to modernize the education system and professional training, without forgetting the active support for the most innovative entrepreneurs in traditional and cutting-edge sectors.

“These successes are the result of innovative sectoral strategies, effective structural reforms, well-established productive diversification, prudent macroeconomic policies and a constantly improving business environment,” he said.
