This opening towards African countries, carried out under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, will play a crucial role in the economic development of Africa, the increase in trade, the promotion of foreign investments, and the consolidation of the security and stability of the continent, said Ms. Benkhadra at the opening of the first African and Euro-Mediterranean Youth Summit at the EuroMed University of Fez.

“A lot of efforts have been made by Morocco for the development of infrastructure, the port of Tangier-Med is the best proof of this,” she underlined, adding that the future port of Dakhla Atlantique will also boost the southern provinces, West Africa and the Sahel.

On this register, the Kingdom, thanks to the enlightened vision of HM King Mohammed VI, deploys policies of openness, integration and all-round development which strengthen its undeniable assets, namely its institutional, political and macroeconomic stability, as well as its active partnership policy, continued the general director of ONHYM.

It is in this dynamic, she noted, that the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline project falls, which brings advantages not only to Africa, but also to Europe which will benefit from a diversification of sources of supply and a peaceful regional environment.

Economic, social and industrial development, as well as the promotion of employment in African countries will create favorable conditions for populations and contribute to reducing irregular immigration, she said, emphasizing the Kingdom’s resolute commitment in this dynamic of regional interconnection.

This infrastructure will not only allow gas to be exported to Europe, but also to supply landlocked countries, the aim being to achieve economic integration in the region. It will also make it possible, she continued, to mitigate desertification through a sustainable and reliable gas supply, in full compliance with the continent’s new commitments in terms of environmental protection.

According to Ms. Benkhadra, the Atlantic coast of the Kingdom could thus become a high place of human communion, a center of economic integration and a center of continental and international influence.

Thanks to this Atlantic dynamic, the Kingdom will also actively contribute to the construction of a solid bridge between the two shores of the Mediterranean, linking Europe and Africa, to address common challenges and build a promising future for all,” he said. -she said.

Placed under the theme: “Euro-Mediterranean and Atlantic opening: let’s meet tomorrow’s challenges together”, this Summit is marked by the participation of university students from more than twenty countries.

At the end of the work of this meeting, the Youth Declaration will be delivered on Thursday during the plenary session of the work of the eighth Summit of Presidents of Parliaments and the 17th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.
