Program of the 2023 World Hockey Championship
- 2-23 May – group stage (four best from each group advance)
- May 25 – quarter finals
- May 27 – semi-finals
- May 28 – final and match for 3rd place
In the groups, the matches are played every day at 15:20 and 19:20 CET. On Saturday the 13th, Sunday the 14th, Saturday the 20th and Tuesday the 23rd of May, the matches will also be played at 11:20. The semi-finals will start at 13:20 and 17:20. Detailed the program of all matches of the WC in hockey 2023 can be found on the iSport.cz website.

Groups of the WC in hockey 2023
Due to the war in Ukraine, the teams of Russia and Belarus are not participating in the World Hockey Championship again. The composition of the groups was already decided during last year’s championship. Seeding is determined by the ranking in the IIHF rankings.
Czech hockey team will play in group B in Riga, Latvia, the final matches will take place at the end of May in Tampere, Finland, just like last year.

Nominations without Boston stars
Nomination of the Czech hockey team for the 2023 World Hockey Championship contains a total of ten players who won bronze medals last year. Goalkeeper Karel Vejmelka, defender Jakub Zbořil and forwards Martin Kaut, Dominik Kubalík and Filip Chytil came from the NHL. However, David Pastrňák and Krejčí from Boston will not join last year’s championship due to health reasons.
Tickets for the World Cup in Hockey are still available
Many hockey fans in Riga have been put off by the ticket prices from attending any of the main group games. Tickets for all matches of the Czech team are still on sale. These are mostly in the price category from 69 euros.
After ten years of medals
Last year on May 29, the Czech hockey players broke the more than ten-year wait for medals, when on WC in hockey 2022 in the match for third place they defeated the USA selection 8:4. At the same time, the Czech national team’s last previous medal joy was also experienced in Finland, when in 2012 they also defeated home country Finland in the fight for bronze.
WC in hockey 2024 in the Czech Republic
Czech fans can look forward to next year as well. The hockey championship will take place in Prague and Ostrava in 2024. In it, the hockey players of Poland will present themselves from the lower division, who last appeared in the elite group in 2002. So far we know logo and the championship date 10-26 May 2024, or that the matches will be hosted by Prague’s O2 Arena and Ostrava’s Ostravar Arena. We will know the first composition of the basic groups shortly after the end of this year’s WC. Tickets will be available for purchase after the publication of the final schedule of matches.
