India lost 3-4 to New Zealand in their last group match of the Women’s Hockey World Cup.

Vandana Kataria (3′), Lalremsiami (43′) and Gurjit Kaur (58′) scored for India in the match held on Thursday night in the Netherlands, Olivia Mori (11′, 53′), Tessa Jobe (28′), Frances Davis ( 31′) scored.

Currently, India have finished the group stage without registering a single win (2 draws, 1 defeat) and are placed 3rd with 2 points. However, India have one last chance to advance to the quarter-finals.

According to the tournament rules, the top teams from all 4 groups will qualify directly for the quarter-finals. The 2nd and 3rd placed teams will qualify for the quarter finals on a ‘crossover’ basis.

Accordingly, India, currently placed 3rd in Group ‘B’, will face Spain, placed 2nd in Group ‘C’, in a ‘crossover’ match on Sunday.
