The head of the beer party received a total of 241,844.77 euros in donations in the federal presidential election campaign.

On Friday, the Court of Auditors (RH) published Dominik Wlazny’s (“Marco Pogo”) donations in the 2022 federal presidential election campaign. Accordingly, the head of the beer party received a total of 241,844.77 euros in grants, the lion’s share from his own movement. Wlazny received 8.3 percent of the vote in the October 10 election.

During the election campaign, Wlazny received “contributions from political parties”, i.e. from his beer party, amounting to 229,544.77 euros. Another 11,700 euros came from a Viennese district councilor of his movement in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus. Companies, associations or other private individuals have not donated to the musician, cabaret artist and doctor.

The transparency rules for presidential candidates are significantly less strict than for political parties. Parties must submit an income-expenditure balance sheet every year. Presidential candidates, on the other hand, are only obliged to disclose the income they received during the election campaign. This includes donations, sponsorships, advertisements and, in particular, support from political parties. Large donors (over 3,500 euros) and large sponsorships from 12,000 euros must be published by name. The candidates do not have to disclose what they used the money for.
