Guatemala city. Holcim announced its geographic expansion to the Guatemalan market through the majority acquisition of “Minerales y Aggregados”, a leading company in the production and marketing of mortars, adhesives and calcium carbonate solutions.

This transaction allows Holcim to further diversify its portfolio of building solutions and advance its vision of becoming the world leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions.

As part of its 2025 strategy to “Accelerate sustainable growth”, the Holcim Group aims to achieve that 30% of its global net sales come from the solutions and products segment, going from an operation focused mainly on cements, concrete and aggregates to a portfolio of integral solutions that cover from the foundations to the roofs.

Through this acquisition, Holcim adds a distribution channel for Minerals and Aggregates products through the Disensa hardware store network in El Salvador, with potential for expansion to other countries in the Central American region where Holcim has operations.

At the same time, it will supply raw materials to the Minerals and Aggregates plant, located in Guatemala, from its cement plants located in the municipality of Metapán, El Salvador.

“The construction sector in Guatemala is highly specialized and requires world-class solutions that, in turn, contribute to sustainable construction and the decarbonization of the sector,” explained Rodrigo Gallardo, Executive Director of Holcim El Salvador.

Minerales y Aggregados was founded in 2014 by the Coronado family and has a production plant in the country. It is made up of a team of more than 90 collaborators who are part of the global team of 60,000 that make up the Holcim Group.
