Speaking, Aimé Ntumba Kakolo, resident representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Guinea, said that the promotion and protection of people with disabilities are at the heart of the universal values ​​that the UN human rights defends.

“The United Nations, through the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, has charted the course for an inclusive society where everyone, regardless of their abilities, can participate fully in all aspects of life. The bill that we have before us today represents a crucial step in bringing it to fruition,” he said.

For his part, Mountaga Sylla, country director of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems said that in this law, a particular dimension was given to the participation of people living with disabilities in the political and electoral process. “This is what makes our support special in the direction of the project, for the promotion of disabled people,” he declared.

This meeting was attended by Luc Joël Grégoire, resident representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Honorable Massoud Barry, infirm and advisor to the CNT, the general secretary of Guinean employers.

In her speech on the occasion, Aïcha Nanette Conté, Minister for the Advancement of Women, Children and Vulnerable Persons said that the realization of this law can be explained by the simple desire of the CNRD to reduce inequalities towards this often social group. victim of marginalization.

“The law will correct the factors of inequality often unfairly oriented towards people with disabilities. And to confirm this desire, this updated bill is being developed at the same time as its draft implementing texts. In my turn, I undertake to make every effort to ensure that these texts are examined and given a first reading by the government during the current month of December, which is the month dedicated to people with disabilities. I will make it my duty to emphasize the numerous advantages of these texts, including among others: the establishment of equal opportunity cards, the obligation to respect accessibility standards, the promotion of the employability of disabled people. , prevention and early detection of disability,” she promised.
