Holding of an extraordinary session of the RADEEJ Board of Directors

During his opening speech at this meeting, which was attended by the Director General of the Authority and the members of the Board of Directors, Mr. Samir Khamlichi, Acting Governor of the Province of El Jadida and Chairman of the Board of Directors of RADEEJ, addressed the issue of water, a challenge facing the Kingdom.

Mr. Khamlichi also stressed that the holding of this session is part of the High Royal Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, calling for the need to take urgent and necessary measures to deal with the phenomenon of drinking water shortage and the significant decline in dam reserves.

He added that, in order to ensure water security in the region, the OCP Group managed to set up a seawater desalination unit in the city of El Jadida, with the aim of guaranteeing the supply of drinking water to this city and neighboring centers, expressing his thanks to the OCP Group for its constant and effective commitment.

In her speech, the Director General of RADEEJ shared the opinion of the Chairman of the Board of Directors regarding the water crisis and stressed that RADEEJ, since the announcement of the state of emergency due to the water shortage, intervened immediately and effectively through several measures, including reducing the flow during the night.

RADEEJ has also intensified leak detection and repair operations, as well as network rehabilitation, with an emphasis on reservoir maintenance and other technical measures that have enabled the Authority to save significant quantities of water.

At the same time, the company conducted a communication campaign with its customers, through awareness-raising advertising spots on its social media pages, advertising leaflets calling for the rationalization of water use, as well as the organization of open days and communication meetings for the benefit of pupils and students to encourage rational consumption of this vital resource.

The seawater desalination project led by OCP, aiming at producing desalinated water reaching approximately 45 million cubic meters per year by 2026, is an important project that will greatly contribute to mitigating the effects of water stress, indicated the Director General of RADEEJ, adding that the intervention of the Authority will come in the second stage, through the distribution which will make it possible to secure the supply of drinking water and thus meet the current and future needs of its customers.
