Celebrities Speak Out in Support of Innocent Victims in Israel-Hamas War
Hollywood celebrities such as Jennifer Garner, Adam Sandler, and Yara Shahidi have taken to social media to express their support and solidarity for the innocent victims of the Israel–Hamas war. The messages come amid increased violence along the Gaza border following a terrorist attack in Israel on Saturday.
The outpouring of support from the entertainment industry comes at a time when tensions are high, with a former leader of Hamas calling for a “Day of Rage” among supporters of the Palestinian terrorist group. In response to potential safety concerns unrelated to their ongoing strike, SAG-AFTRA canceled its planned pickets in New York City and Los Angeles. Furthermore, the Academy Museum gala, which was set to welcome A-list celebrities, has been postponed out of respect for the devastating conflict and loss of life overseas.
On Thursday, a letter condemning the attacks and calling for the return of hostages was signed by 700 major Hollywood figures in support of Israel. The letter, created by nonprofit Creative Community for Peace, also urged the entertainment community to refrain from spreading misinformation about the war. Notable signatories include Gal Gadot, Jerry Seinfeld, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Michael Douglas.
In addition to signing the letter, many celebrities have continued to voice their concerns on social media. SAG-AFTRA released a statement denouncing Hamas’ attack on Israel and expressing solidarity with the Israeli people. The statement mourned the loss of life and called for the safe return of those who are missing and held hostage.
Entertainment law firm Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole also issued a statement condemning the violence and terrorism committed by Hamas. They stood in support of the Jewish community and called for an end to hate and antisemitism. The firm expressed their prayers for peace and the safe return of hostages, as well as the innocent civilians affected by the conflict.
