Hollywood production companies are adopting “Zoom” as an effective tool.

From “Knight of the Moon” to Marvel’s new Doctor Strange.

During the Corona plague it was clear to everyone that virtual meetings are an effective solution for continuing contact. But even in the post-Corona era, many good people have discovered that virtual encounters are a convenient and time-saving solution. One example is the Marvel Studios responsible for the huge and lucrative “universe” of movies and series based on their comic books – where some of the editors and directors no longer feel the need to meet in person during the entire production.

The director of Marvel’s new Disney + series, “Moon Knight,” Muhammad Diab, recently reported, after the final episode of the season aired, that he had never met one of the show’s editors in person even though production for the show lasted three years. Diab said his involvement in the project – six months in pre-production and six months of post-production – was all done through a zoom platform and that he had never physically met the “Knight of the Moon” editor Joan Sobel. He also noted that although the work itself was done in the virtual arena, the show had the lowest amount of remakes in Marvel’s production history.

Grant Curtis, acting producer of “Knight of the Moon,” said in an interview with Axius that his team learned about how to work virtually from other shows like “WandaVision” (premiered in January 2021) and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” (first released in March 2021). These programs had to work virtually because of the raging corona. “Using zoom was the only way to work,” Curtis said.

The new movie in Marvel’s universe, “Doctor Strange in the Dimensions of Madness,” which premiered in theaters on May 6, grossed about $ 185 million in ticket sales for its first weekend, according to the AP news agency. The film had the biggest opening of 2022, finishing ahead of “The Batman” ($ 134 million) and “Spider-Man: Away from Home” ($ 260.1 million). Director Sam Raimi said at the world press conference for the film that the film was produced and edited mostly through Zoom. He said entire editing scenes including audio editing took place virtually. “Zoom allowed me to talk to 10 staff members at once… We were able to show the planning board using Zoom’s virtual erase board so editors and other call participants could upload parts of the drafts and make changes to the board while talking. We had great, audio-visual communication. “There were stages where I was even able to talk to 100 people at once. It’s fantastic.”

Reimi – who has directed the Spider-Man trilogy since the early 2000s starring Toby Maguire – has seen the change in Marvel’s production since the start of the Corona. He said the move to Zoom meetings was “a technological difference that really allowed me to work on this film.” “Technology has changed and it just got a lot easier,” he said.

During the Korna, says Raimi, it was clear that it was more convenient to work using zoom, but, he estimated that the wave of TV productions and movies would generally switch to virtual apps because of the convenience and ease of working remotely.
