Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie had announced that they would come to Berlin to promote their “Barbie” film. But now they are not coming. What is the reason?

Because of the actors’ strike in the US, the actors of the “Barbie” film Ryan Gosling (42) and Margot Robbie (33) will not come to Berlin for the German premiere. The responsible PR agency informed the German Press Agency on Friday. Gosling (“La La Land”) and Robbie (“Birds of Prey”) were expected this Saturday on the red carpet and at a press conference in Berlin.

The press appointment in the afternoon was cancelled, according to the agency, the premiere in the Berlinale-Palast should still take place – but without the main actors. In addition to Robbie and Gosling, who play around the popular toy doll Barbie and Ken in the live-action film, their colleagues America Ferrera, Issa Rae and Simu Liu were also to come to Berlin. The film starts in German cinemas on Thursday.

The US actors’ union SAG-AFTRA had previously called for a strike, which officially began on Friday at 00:01 local time in Los Angeles (09:01 CEST). Among other things, the actors demand better remuneration and the regulation of the use of artificial intelligence in the industry.

Bill Kaulitz disappointed

No Margot Robbie, no Ryan Gosling: “Tokio Hotel” singer Bill Kaulitz was disappointed because the two main actors stayed away from the premiere of the film “Barbie” in the Berlinale Palast. “I got dressed especially for Ryan,” said Kaulitz at the event, where a pink carpet was rolled out to match the occasion. The plan was that “we actually wanted to shoot Tiktoks together all day today and I’ve been thinking a lot about how to get Ryan around today,” joked the 33-year-old.

Kaulitz, who has lived in Los Angeles with his brother Tom since 2010, has already seen the film. “I just love him,” said Kaulitz. “It’s a film about very topical issues, equality, the position of women and the position of men.” The film is very emotional when it comes to being free and finding oneself, and has an incredibly modern cast.
