A domesticated leopard escaped into the streets of Pakistan and spread panic for hours. The incident took place in the capital city of Islamabad. People panicked after the tiger reached the streets, but there were no reports of any serious casualties. The tiger who came to the street was also in a state of panic due to the unfamiliar situation. It was a male tiger between two and three years old. The tiger entered the busy road and ran through the cars. A person was also knocked down while running. Islamabad Forest Department officials reached the spot as soon as they got the information that the tiger had come out on the street.
Tariq Bangash, director of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board, said that by the time officials arrived, the frightened tiger was roaring incessantly after being surrounded by strangers. Apart from minor injuries to four people, there were no major accidents in the incident. But it took six hours of effort to catch the tiger. It was caught after being drugged.
It is reported that the captured tiger was taken to the old zoo in the city. The leopard is currently staying with a brown bear, tiger and monkeys captured by forest officials in the last few months.
