Puducherry: Puducherry The hike in household electricity tariffs announced by the Co-Electricity Regulatory Commission came into effect today.

In the Union Territory of Pondicherry, the electricity tariff is fixed annually as per the instructions of the Co-Electricity Regulatory Authority. The estimated electricity tariff for the year 2022-2020 was announced last January. A public hearing was held on the video. Many at the meeting protested that electricity tariffs should not be raised. They also demanded the recovery of multi-crore electricity bills held by the government and the private sector.

They then registered strong opposition to the tariff hike because of the Corona term environment. However, the then-proposed tariff has been declared as a fixed tariff and the Co-Electricity Regulatory Commission has issued an order raising the tariff in some sections.

Accordingly, the electricity tariff for home use has gone up from today. The price of 100 units has gone up by 35 paise to Rs 1.90 from Rs 1.55 per unit and the price of 10 units has gone up by 30 paise to Rs 2.90 from Rs 2.60 per 200 units.

For use between 201 and 300 units, the price will go up by 35 paise per unit to Rs. 5 and for usage above 300 units, the price will go up by 40 rupees to Rs. The fee has also gone up to 6.45.

At the same time there was no change in trade and agricultural electricity tariffs.
