EA clear majority of Germans believe that it is becoming increasingly difficult for young people to buy their own home. In a representative online survey by the polling company Kantar, 90 percent of respondents said that buying their own house or apartment is more difficult for under-35-year-olds than in previous years. The survey is exclusively available to WELT AM SONNTAG.
The most common obstacle is the high real estate prices at 48 percent. Increased construction costs (36 percent) and too little equity (25 percent) are also cited as important reasons.
Multiple answers were possible. The survey was carried out in August on behalf of BHW Bausparkasse.
