Anyone who wants to heave a boat, a roof box or other equipment onto a Bulli experiences the law of leverage first-hand. A lowerable roof rack from the Norwegian start-up Dropracks is intended to remedy the situation. The load-bearing frame can be extended using a hand crank and lowered by around one meter, which allows loading or unloading at chest or hip height, depending on the height of the vehicle. The system, which was awarded an innovation prize at the Automechanika trade fair, can carry a maximum of 100 kilograms and is available in two widths of 140 and 160 centimetres. It is to be built on an existing roof rail. Sales in Germany are via internet dealers at prices from around 1900 euros. (jwin.)
