Honda has revealed its overhauled 2027 CRF1150L Africa Twin family at EICMA, introducing an enlarged 1,131cc engine, a lighter frame, advanced radar-guided rider assists, and a new dirt-focused Enduro Sports variant designed to broaden the adventure bike range.
Ten years after reviving the iconic nametag with the 2016 CRF1000L, Honda has implemented extensive updates in the machine’s modern history. The updated lineup centers on a larger displacement parallel-twin engine and a thorough chassis redesign, positioning the standard model as the foundation of a newly expanded family.
Engine Growth and Power Output Across the CRF1150L Range
The mechanical heart of every 2027 Africa Twin is a redesigned, 1,131cc parallel-twin engine, up from the previous 1,084cc displacement. Honda achieved the capacity increase through a 2mm wider bore of 94mm while retaining the 81.5mm stroke. Whichever version you choose, the Unicam SOHC parallel twin retains familiar characteristics like dual balancer shafts and a 270-degree crankpin offset.

The modifications yield 117.3bhp (87.5kW) at 7,500rpm and 119Nm (87.8 lb-ft) of torque at 5,750rpm.
Chassis Redesign and the New Enduro Sports Variant
Alongside the engine overhaul, Honda shaved 1.4kg from the frame and swingarm while repositioning the fuel tank partially under the seat to lower the center of gravity.

Joining the standard Africa Twin and the touring-oriented Adventure Sports is a brand-new, off-road-focused trim. The CRF1150L Africa Twin Enduro Sports draws direct inspiration from the Dakar Rally CRF450 machine, featuring a raised front mudguard, a 21in front wheel, and a weight reduction of 9kg compared to the base model. Available in Extreme Red, the Enduro Sports comes with an 18.8-litre fuel tank and features an altered dual-tank design.
The Enduro Sports model rides on mechanical Showa suspension comprising a 49mm closed-cartridge upside-down front fork with 240mm of travel and a fully adjustable rear Pro-Link shock offering 230mm of travel. This setup provides 260mm of ground clearance and an adjustable seat height ranging from 870mm to 890mm. Suspension on the road-focused Adventure Sports features shorter travel at 210mm front and 200mm rear, while its minimum seat height setting drops down to 830mm.
Radar Safety Tech and Transmission Options
At the apex of the lineup sits the Adventure Sports Honda Sensing Ride. The sophisticated DCT setup engages two gears simultaneously to ensure zero let-up in drive during shifts, while offering dedicated off-road logic and gradient-sensing adjustments when tackling inclines.
