Hong Kong (China) has been placed on alert following very heavy rainfall.
Precipitation was at record levels. Unheard of in Hong Kong (China) for 140 years. There are 14 injured after the torrential rains. Last night up to 158 mm per hour were recorded. The streets turned into out-of-control rivers. Today, the Hong Kong authorities are asking residents, seven million people, to stay at home. There is obviously no school, no metro.
Heavy rain alert in southern China
The rains also affect the neighboring city of Shenzhen (China). Moreover, there is a heavy rain alert in effect throughout southern China for the next three days, explains France Télévisions journalist Arnauld Miguet.
A few days ago, Typhoon Saola had already hit Hong Kong. The red alert was then given, but the super typhoon was less intense than expected, creating more fear than harm.
