Hong Kong Investment Authority-Korea Artificial Intelligence Association, ‘Artificial Intelligence Hong Kong Investment Seminar’ held

On the 11th, InvestHK, in collaboration with the Korea Artificial Intelligence Association, held the ‘AI Hong Kong Investment Seminar’ under the theme of ‘AI Era: Navigating the Future and Opportunities in Hong Kong and Beyond’ at the Westin Chosun Seoul Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.

This seminar was co-hosted by the Hong Kong Investment Corporation and the Korea Artificial Intelligence Association, with the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Science Technology Institute (HKSITP) and Hong Kong Cyberport as cooperating organizations. About 120 domestic businesspeople from the Innovation & Technology industry, especially the Artificial Intelligence (AI) industry, attended the seminar.

The event began with an opening speech by Kim Geon-hoon, Executive Vice President of the Korea Artificial Intelligence Association, followed by presentations by ▲Andy Wong, Head of Innovation and Technology Team, Invest Hong Kong; ▲Kraft Technologies CEO Oh Ki-seok; ▲Anita Chow, Director of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Science and Technology Academy; and ▲Rebecca So, Head of Marketing, Cyberport.

In the first presentation, Andy Wong, Director of Innovation and Technology at InvestHK, introduced the Hong Kong government’s new AI development promotion plan and explained why Hong Kong is the best place to invest in AI and innovative technologies. Wong said the government will support enterprises to grow by opening the Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Centre (AISC), introducing HK$300 million in AI subsidies, and HK$10 billion in innovative industry development plans.

In the presentation that followed, Ki-Seok Oh, Hong Kong Branch Manager of Qraft Technologies, a domestic AI financial company, shared his company’s successful case of entering the Hong Kong market and emphasized the value of Hong Kong as a global market forward base. Anita Chow, Director of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Science Park, introduced the ‘China Greater Bay Area’ encompassing Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, and presented how domestic AI companies can create business opportunities in the region by utilizing the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Science Park.

The last presenter, Rebecca Soh, Head of Marketing at Hong Kong Cyberport, introduced various support programs for innovative technology businesses including AI, and encouraged domestic companies to actively advance into Hong Kong. Cyberport is Asia’s first IT new city and is also a benchmark model for Pangyo Techno Valley in South Korea.

In the Q&A session that followed, domestic business executives who attended the seminar asked additional questions about the presentation content and discussed specific inquiries related to their companies’ investment and advancement into Hong Kong with the presenters.

This event, which brings together innovation and technology experts from Korea and Hong Kong, is expected to enable Korean companies to explore new opportunities for entering the global market by taking advantage of Hong Kong’s vibrant innovation and technology ecosystem and various support policies.

Meanwhile, InvestHK, established in July 2000, is an official investment promotion agency under the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and provides information and various support services necessary for business and investment in Hong Kong to attract foreign direct investment and promote business operations in Hong Kong.
